Akathisia is a side-effect that continues to affect a large percentage ofpsychiatric patients though the focus over recent years has moved awayfrom extrapyramidal side-effects to metabolic problems. As cognitivebehavioural therapy has become an integrated part of the managementplan for psychotic patients an increased understanding of patients' interpretationof their symptoms and side-effects are encouraged. This caseseries illustrates different views that patients take on medicationinduced side-effects.
