Psychopharmacology Unit, School of Medical Sciences, University Walk, Bristol BS8 1TD, UK A case is reported of a 34-year-old lady with a 2-year history of resistant depression who responded to pindolol augmentation of sertraline. It also illustrates the use of sleep electroencephalogram measures as a way of assessing changes in brain 5-hydroxytryptamine function.
